About Us

The Centre for Health Law Ethics and Development (CHELD) is a non-profit organisation which seeks to improve public health in Nigeria and other African countries through advocating for reform, development and implementation of good health laws and health policies, facilitates enlightenment of health ethics and its role in improving public health, and health policy in Nigeria and other countries.  It also engages in health development projects, designed to have an immediate impact on the citizenry.

Addressing and eliminating domestic violence in Nigeria is one of its development projects.  As part of this project CHELD, having noted a vacuum in easily accessible information and resources on domestic violence in Nigeria, has embarked on providing an online resource centre on domestic violence.

In addition to providing this resource centre, CHELD also provides services to victims and survivors of domestic violence, including counselling, material support, and legal assistance. CHELD also provides enlightening seminars to different stakeholders including faith organisations, schools, and civil society organisations on recognising domestic violence, solutions for domestic violence, and conflict management.
